Board Games Group

Board Games Group: an enjoyable way to socialise and play table games

The Board Games Group has made a great start. We have met twice so far and it has been an enjoyable and fun time. Members have enjoyed socialising and meeting new people and, at the same time, debating new words in games of scrabble, and learning to play cribbage and the lesser well-known game of addique. Other games on offer include backgammon, draughts, dominoes, mancala and chess. Members can also bring their own games, and we are always on the lookout for other games.

We meet every 2 weeks on a Thursday afternoon from 2 pm to 4 pm at The Holly Tree pub in Forest Gate (Dames Road). This is an ideal setting as the pub is relatively quiet at this time so can offer us plenty of space, and the staff are hospitable and keen to be involved. One of our members played a challenging game of chess with a staff member last week. If you fancy a beer or a glass of wine, or a cup of tea or a tub of chips while playing board games, please join us. However, you are under no obligation to purchase food or drink. Or if you just want to watch the games and socialise, feel free to come along.

We next meet on Thursday 22 October at 2 pm. For further details or queries, please feel free to email Maureen: maureencrane246@gmail.com
