Freedom Walk

Last year, Peter Ashan led a very well received Freedom Walk from Forest Gate to Clapton Football Club, talking about Newham history and local people who have made a lasting impact in our local community.

Peter is passionate about recognising the contribution of people of colour, particularly local people, who have significantly supported our local community over the years.

He is repeating his walk and talk on Sunday 26th April. The walk starts at 10.30am at the Forest Gate Youth Zone (junction Woodford Rd &Dames Rd). Forest Gate Community Garden will provide refreshments at the start and then a leisurely stroll taking in local sights of interest and ending at Clapton Community Football Club in Upton Lane around 12.30pm.

A few members of East Edge Sisters WI will be joining us on the walk. You are welcome to bring along friends/family if you wish.
At the end of the walk you may wish to make a small donation to the charity Heritage Plaques about People of Colour.

If you missed the last walk and would like to go or just want to repeat the experience, let Marie know.
