Newham u3a Festival July 9th

Sorry for the delay in getting this report out.

What a wonderful afternoon! It really was a fantastic team effort, as reflected in all the lovely thank-you messages and glowing emails sent after the event.

Despite the heat, over forty members – along with several people curious about joining – came along to enjoy the afternoon.

The clubhouse (and outside areas) looked bright and welcoming with colourful decorations, group information stalls and gazebos. The prize for the best stall was easily won by Julia! Marie also put together a brilliant quiz that got everyone’s brain cells working and competitive spirits into full swing.

Our planned session to introduce the new boules set had to be postponed because of the heat, but don’t worry – we’re hoping to reschedule it for next month.

The raffle was a great success, thanks to everyone’s generosity. It raised £30 for our U3A fund, with another £30 being added to the Clapton donation.

Sadly, I have no photographic evidence of the wonderful spread created by our energetic and creative catering team… mainly because the photography team were too busy tucking in! Oops!

A huge thank you to everyone who helped organise, set up, contributed, volunteered and came along. You all played a part in making it such an enjoyable and successful social afternoon. Here’s to the next one!
