The Group, joined by other u3a members had an enjoyable and informative afternoon at the Rose Playhouse, the charity which is restoring the theatre where Shakespeare’s early plays and plays by Christopher Marlowe were performed. We learned of the history, the archeological dig, the costumes of the time and danced a gig! The Trust holds monthly discovery afternoons and on 20th September is running an all day play reading event based on 6 Shakespeare and Marlowe plays. Everything is run by volunteers. Full details of the activities can be found on its website. www.roseplayhouse.org.ukSmall fees are payable and donations welcomed as money is required to continue the dig and save this precious gem for the nation.
