The Group, joined by other u3a members had an enjoyable and informative afternoon at the Rose Playhouse, the charity which is restoring the theatre where Shakespeare’s early plays and plays by Christopher Marlowe were performed. We learned of the history, the archeological dig, the costumes of the time and danced a gig! The Trust holds monthly discovery afternoons and on 20th September is running an all day play reading event based on 6 Shakespeare and Marlowe plays. Everything is run by volunteers. We are delighted to announce the next full programme of walks and gallery visits for September/October. All events are £10, no refunds. The programme can be found on the eventspage of the website.
The sessions for September/October will launch on Thursday 20th August 2026 from 10.00
All of our walks/gallery visits have proved very popular and been fully booked almost as soon as advertised. So don't delay book up on launch day. There will of course be waiting lists for each session.
