05/22/2026 00:00 05/23/2026 00:00 Europe/London Wapping Pubs Walk Wapping Pub Crawl  :-) Walk on Friday 22nd May Wapping is one of London’s most fascinating riverside districts, rich with maritime history, old taverns, and stories of sailors, merchants, pirates, and dockworkers who once filled its narrow streets we will visit several historic pubs, explore the area’s unique past, and enjoy good conversation along the way The route will include some of the oldest and most atmospheric pubs in East London, with opportunities to learn about the history of the Thames waterfront and the characters who shaped it Comfortable shoes and a sense of adventure are highly recommended We will be walking a couple of miles on easy terrain There will be several stops including one for lunch but please remember to bring a bottle of water Whether you are interested in history, architecture, or simply a pleasant stroll with friends, it promises to be an enjoyable occasion Please let me know if you would like to attend so we can confirm numbers and make any necessary reservations for lunch by emailing shazza48@newham-u3a org uk We plan to meet outside Tower Hill Station at 10 30 am

Wapping Pub Crawl  :-) Walk on Friday 22nd May

Wapping is one of London’s most fascinating riverside districts, rich with maritime history, old taverns, and stories of sailors, merchants, pirates, and dockworkers who once filled its narrow streets. we will visit several historic pubs, explore the area’s unique past, and enjoy good conversation along the way.

The route will include some of the oldest and most atmospheric pubs in East London, with opportunities to learn about the history of the Thames waterfront and the characters who shaped it.

Here is the programme of walks and gallery visits for June. (The programme can be found here for here for May.)  All events are £10, no refunds. The sessions from June will launch on Thursday 21st May 2026

(Please note the walk that was taking place on 22nd May has changed to 26th May due to the proposed tube strikes.) There are also few places left for 12th May Albertopolis walk and V&A gallery visit with Marilyn Greene. Information and links can be found on the events page (as above)


All of the walks/gallery visits have proved very popular and been fully booked almost as soon as advertised. So don't delay booking. There will of course be waiting lists for each session.

Please remember that the London Region events team cannot book or reserve places on your behalf.
