Wapping Pubs Walk
22nd May 2026

Wapping Pub Crawl :-) Walk on Friday 22nd May
Wapping is one of London’s most fascinating riverside districts, rich with maritime history, old taverns, and stories of sailors, merchants, pirates, and dockworkers who once filled its narrow streets. we will visit several historic pubs, explore the area’s unique past, and enjoy good conversation along the way.
The route will include some of the oldest and most atmospheric pubs in East London, with opportunities to learn about the history of the Thames waterfront and the characters who shaped it.
Comfortable shoes and a sense of adventure are highly recommended. We will be walking a couple of miles on easy terrain. There will be several stops including one for lunch but please remember to bring a bottle of water.
Whether you are interested in history, architecture, or simply a pleasant stroll with friends, it promises to be an enjoyable occasion.
Please let me know if you would like to attend so we can confirm numbers and make any necessary reservations for lunch by emailing shazza48@newham-u3a.org.uk.
We plan to meet outside Tower Hill Station at 10.30 am.
